Gaston City Council positions are nonpartisan. Three (3) City Council positions are open and subject to election.

Please stop in at Gaston City Hall to pick up your election packet today!  Confirmation of submitting paperwork to City Staff will be required to qualify for the position you wish to file for.

Terms of Office

City Council terms of office are four years commencing the first Council meeting immediately after the election is certified and continues until the successor qualifies and assumes the office. 

City Council Candidate Qualifications and Residency Requirements

• Be a qualified elector under the State of Oregon.
• May not be a candidate at a single election for more than one city office.
• Reside in the city at least one year immediately before the election or appointment to office.
• The Council is the final judge of the election and qualifications of its members.
• Can file by either petition or filing fee of $25 dollars, in accordance with State election laws and within the City’s filing deadline, must collect at least 10 valid signatures from Gaston active registered voters if not paying the $25 dollar filing fee.
